Tennessee land swap could impact Native sites

A proposed land swap between the Tennessee Valley Authority and a private developer is being opposed by tribal members and conservationists.

The developer can build condominiums, expensive lakefront homes and a golf course on prime TVA land. Thomas Peter Kunesh, a member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, said the deal is unfair because the land contains cultural sites that would be destroyed by the development.

Kunesh urged the TVA board to hold off on a decision until tribes are consulted.
