Maine tribe starts prescription drug business

The Penobscot Nation of Maine is starting out small with its mail-order prescription drug program but hopes to grow with the help of the state.

PIN Rx is hiring 14 people to take orders from Maine residents. The cost of the drugs will be cheaper than those purchased at pharmacies because the tribe is buying from wholesalers.

The state is supporting the business, which is open to participants in three state programs. The state hopes to see the mail-order industry grow to $100 million a year.
