BIA accused of favoritism for farming deal

Farmers on the Yakama Reservation in Washington questioned the Bureau of Indian Affairs for approving a farming deal with a South Dakota group.

The farmers said the BIA is showing favoritism. They say they are leasing land for $80 to $100 an acre while the South Dakota group is getting $41 an acre on some leases and about $71 an acre on other leases.

The Yakama Nation is supporting the South Dakota deal. It would involve the leasing of 10,000 acres of farm land on the reservation.
