Salt River Tribe considers river development

The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community of Arizona is considering a $120 million to restore and develop a 14-mile section of the Salt River.

The plan would beautify the section and pave the way for development. Plans could include recreation and commercial sites.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers conducted a $2.4 million on the project. The tribe says it will protect sacred sites and not encroach on individual Indian land.
