Former Indian Affairs counsel joins law firm

Paul Moorehead, the former Republican chief counsel and staff director for the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, has joined the law firm of Gardner Carton & Douglas, where he will work in the tribal and governmental affairs practice.

Moorehead worked on the committee from 1997 to 2005, serving under retired Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colorado). Prior to that, he was a staffer for the National Congress of American Indians.

At Gardner Carton & Douglas, Moorehead will work in the firm's expanding Washington, D.C., office and focus on health care, energy, self governance, and business development in Native communities. "Paul is highly regarded in the Native American community and on Capitol Hill and will bring a significant new breadth of experience to our clients," said Stephanie Wickouski, the Washington managing partner.
