Grandmother pleads guilty to abusing two boys

A member of the Northern Ute Tribe of Utah faces life in prison after pleading guilty on Thursday to abuse of her two young grandsons.

Charlissa Sireech, 45, admitted to seven felony counts of assault against Jose Rodriguez, 4, and his brother, 3-year-old Emilio Rodriguez. She beat Jose so badly that he ended up in a coma. He suffered brain injuries and can only get around in a wheelchair with assistance.

The boys and their sister, who was not abused, have since been sent back to their paternal grandparents in California.
