Recall papers certified against anti-Abramoff leaders

A recall is moving forward against leaders of the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe of Michigan who opposed disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

More than 1,000 tribal members signed petitions to recall Chief Audrey Falcon, Sub Chief Bernard Sprague, Treasurer Charmaine Benz, Secretary Ruth Moses and Sergeant-at-Arms Brent Jackson. Falcon and Sprague have spoken publicly against Abramoff and his partner Michael Scanlon.

The recall petitions were certified last week. A recall election is supposed to be called within 30 days.
