Agua Caliente Band finds new site for museum

The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians is announcing a new site for its museum.

The Agua Caliente Cultural Museum, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, will move to the heart of Palm Springs, near the convention center. The site will attract more visitors, officials say.

The museum is currently located in a city-owned building downtown. The tribe had announced a move to a site in Andreas Canyon but some tribal members opposed because the land there is sacred.
