Bruce Whalen, a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, has been hired by the South Dakota Republican Party to conduct outreach among Indian voters.

Whalen has been actively promoting the GOP in Indian Country. He attended the GOP convention and campaigned for Rep. John Thune (R), who won the election despite overwhelming tribal support of his rival, former Sen. Tom Daschle (D).

Whalen says Lakota values are more in line with Republican principles than Democrat ones.
