Tullis still has work to do for Poarch Creek Band

Eddie Tullis, the longtime leader of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, says he still has a lot of work to do even though he is no longer chairman of the Alabama tribe.

Tullis was re-elected to council by a record margin. But the nine-member council voted to replace him with Fred McGhee, who previously served one year as chairman. Otherwise, Tullis has been chairman since 1976.

Tullis plans to continue overseeing the tribe's gaming operation. He is active in other tribal organizations, including the United South and Eastern Tribes and the National Congress of American Indians.
