Crow Creek Sioux Tribe readies temporary dorm

The Crow Creek Sioux Tribe of South Dakota is on track to open a temporary dorm to replace the one that was destroyed by fire.

The temporary dorm is needed so that students have a place to stay once the fall term starts. Work will begin next week to put up three modular buildings.

The tribe needs $2.3 million for the project. The Bureau of Indian Affairs has pledged $1.3 million.

Overall, the tribe needs an entirely new school complex to replace aging buildings. The project, including a $2.5 million gym, could cost up to $40 million.
