Pine Ridge man gets 11 years for friend's death

A man from the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota was sentenced to 11 years in federal prison for fatally stabbing his friend.

Wicahpe George "Chops" Milk, 21, was convicted of second-degree murder in connection with the October 15, 2004, death of Arlen Bissonette, 20. The two men, along with Milk's younger brother, had been drinking the day of the incident.

Milk apologized for his actions at the sentencing hearing. His lawyer said he was raised in a family with alcoholism, poverty, domestic violence and other issues.

Milk's brother, 19-year old Petan Duane Milk, had been charged in connection with the death but was acquitted.
