Two Native golf tournaments being held this weekend

Two Native golf tournaments are being held in Michigan and Minnesota this weekend.

The first ever Native American Cup kicks off today at the golf resort owned by the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians in Michigan. Navajo/Pueblo golfer Notah Begay III will be among the players in the tournament. The proceeds will go to scholarships for Indian college students.

Over in Minnesota, the Fond du Lac Band of Ojibwe is hosting the First Nations Golf Association Open. The event starts today and runs through Sunday. Professional and amateur Native golfers will play for a total purse of $30,000,
