Ho-Chunk Nation still has plans for Indiana land

The Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin is making plans for commercial development on land it owns outside of Chicago, The Northwest Indiana Times reported.

The tribe has purchased some homes and properties in Lynwood Village. The goal is to open a resort and casino on 432 acres although a land-into-trust application has yet to be filed.

Meanwhile, the tribe just made repairs to two houses that were considered eyesores. The tribe paid for the makeover after being informed by local officials.

Mike Goze, a former Bureau of Indian Affairs aide to former assistant secretary Dave Anderson, is the Ho-Chunk Nation's Chicago-area representative.
