A member of the Meskwaki Tribe of Iowa who was in a custody fight over her baby son has turned him over to the state after testing positive for dugs, WHO-TV reports.

Kelly Buffalo voluntarily gave Braven to the state Department of Human Services on Tuesday. The TV station said she tested positive for marijuana and methamphetamine. Police found drug paraphernalia and $3,500 in her home after receiving a tip that Buffalo was using drugs.

Buffalo had been fighting her tribe over plans to give Braven to a non-Indian couple. In the end, she decided to keep her son.
