The federal government has approved a unique water deal between the Jicarilla Apache Nation and the city of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Under the deal, the city will lease water from the tribe. The first payment, of $450,000, was made on Tuesday. Over 75 years, the tribe could gain $75 million.
The tribe's headquarters is located in Dulce, about 130 miles north of Santa Fe.
