Ohio Congressman not worried about Abramoff probe

Scanlon Plea | Attachment
US v. Scanlon
Rep. Bob Ney (R-Ohio), the Congressman at the center of a political corruption scheme, doesn't think the Jack Abramoff lobbying scandal will affect the 2006 elections.

Ney is up for re-election next year. Democrats are hoping to make an issue out of his involvement in the scandal.

Ney has been subpoenaed by the grand jury investigating Abramoff and, according to The Washington Post, he has been told that a possible bribery case is being prepared against him. He repeatedly sought to help Abramoff's clients while receiving "things of value," according to federal investigators who secured a guilty plea from Michael Scanlon, Abramoff's former partner.
