United Keetoowah Band gets land in Alabama

The United Keetoowah Band plans to develop 69 acres adjacent to a burial site in Fort Payne, Alabama.

The tribe was given the land by David Hammonds, a Fort Payne man. The tribe has a business relationship with Hammond in trucking, The Oklahoman reported.

The only other federally recognized tribe in Alabama is the Poarch Band of Creek Indians.
