New Mexico family turns bread into a business

A Pueblo family in New Mexico has turned their love for bread into a business.

Karen Chalan started making bread at her home in Cochiti Pueblo when she was a young girl. Now she sells fry bread and Pueblo oven bread in Pojoaque Pueblo, where she lives with her boyfriend. Her mother has been helping out lately.

Chalan says fry bread, a cholesterol-laden staple packed with calories, is only eaten on special occasions in her family. A Department of Agriculture analysis found that an average piece of fry bread had at least 700 calories.
