Cadets from the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, joined with the Southwest Indian Foundation in Gallup, New Mexico, to build a home for a Navajo family.

The cadets build two homes a year under a project called Operation Good Neighbor, The Gallup Independent reports. Every year, one home is donated to a needy Navajo family.

The homes are based on the traditional hogan. They are constructed in Colorado and transported to the Navajo Nation.

The project came about in 1998 after the Air Force contacted the Southwest Indian Foundation about providing homes to Navajo families in the Gallup area.
