Saskatchewan reserve without water since Monday

About 1,000 people on the Canoe Narrows Reserve in northern Saskatchewan have been without water since Monday, due to raw sewage contamination.

An overflowing storage tank broke, allowing the sewage to contaminate the water supply. Guy Lariviere, the chief of the Canoe Lake Cree Nation, said no alarms sounded, allowing the spill to continue unnoticed for up to four hours.

The tribe has moved elders, pregnant women, very young children and people with chronic health problems to other sites. Water won't be restored for several days.
