Ho-Chunk Nation purchasing ancestral lands


The Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin is buying ancestral lands along the western shore of Lake Michigan's Green Bay.

So far, the tribe has bought 19 parcels for a total of 10 acres. Some of the parcels cost most than $1.5 million, The Green Bay Press-Gazette reported.

The tribe is planning to preserve the land for cultural, religious and natural purposes.
