The Crow Tribe of Montana accepted $10 million from the federal government to settle its trust accounting claims.

The $10 million covers accounting claims from 1972 through 1992. Other trust management claims alleged by the tribe are not addressed.

The Crow Tribe is one of nearly two dozen that filed trust accounting claims in the wake of the Cobell lawsuit. Judge Royce Lamberth approved the Crow settlement last month.

The tribe is using the money for various purposes, including payments to lawyers, former employees, elders and health care.
