Nez Perce Tribe to host Lewis and Clark event

Dozens of tribes met the Lewis and Clark but only three are hosting signature events during the bicentennial commemoration of the expedition.

That doesn't mean the Nez Perce Tribe of Idaho is celebrating the explorers, said archivist Nakia Williamson. The tribe views its participation as a way of showing the Nez Perce people still exist.

The tribe's Summer of Peace Among the Nimiipuu is being held June 14-17.
