The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut is helping local schools add more Indian history and culture to their curriculum.

The Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center regularly offers tours and open houses to schools. It's one of the ways the students gain exposure to New England tribes.

Educators say trips to the museum are vital because textbooks and other school material don't contain much information, or accurate information, about the area's tribes.
