Native officer in serious condition after shooting

A Native Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer is in serious condition after she and a colleague were shot while responding to a domestic dispute.

Const. Robin Cameron, 29, is the mother of an 11-year-old girl. A member of the Beardy's Okemis First Nation, she joined the RCMP after overcoming hardship in her life.

"I always wanted to be an RCMP ever since I was a little girl," she said in an interview on a website [Link].

Cameron and fellow officer Marc Bourdages, 26, were shot July 7 near Spiritwood, Saskatchewan. The assailant is still at large.

Both Cameron and Bourdages are in intensive care at a hospital in Saskatoon.
