Agenda for Senate Indian Affairs business meeting

Update: The Cobell settlement bill and the Virginia tribes recognition bill have been pulled from the agenda as of this afternoon.

The Senate Indian Affairs Committee has posted the agenda for tomorrow's business meeting.

The committee will consider the following items:
S. 374, the Tribal Parity Act. The bill would add money to the trust accounts of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe and the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe for damages they suffered on the Missouri River.

S. 480, the Thomasina E. Jordan Indian Tribes of Virginia Federal Recognition Act of 2005. The bill would recognize six Virginia tribes.

S. 660, the Lumbee Recognition Act. The bill recognizes the Lumbee Trie of North Carolina.

S. 1439, the Indian Trust Reform Act of 2005. The bill settles the Cobell trust fund lawsuit and makes other changes at the Interior Department.

S. 1535, the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Equitable Compensation Amendments Act of 2005. The bill allows members of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe to gain access to a Missouri River trust fund.
The meeting begins at 9:30am. It probably won't be broadcast over the Internet.
