The Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe will receive $2.5 million and land from the state of Washington as part of an agreement to preserve a major Klallam village.

The tribe will receive $500,000 up front and $2 million to develop a cultural center at Tse-whit-zen village. The deal includes 11 acres to rebury more than 300 ancestors who were uncovered at the site.

The cultural center will be located on another portion of land being leased from the state. The artifacts uncovered at the village will be housed there.
