Miss Indian Nations focuses on youth, health care

The newly crowned Miss Indian Nation says youth and health care are her top priorities.

Ponka-We Victors, a Ponca and Tohono O'odham master's student at Wichita State University, said youth are losing their way to drugs, alcohol and suicide. She wants to inspire them to succeed in both the Indian and non-Indian worlds.

Victors also hopes to change people's minds on Capitol Hill. She intends to advocate for improved health care.

Victors is the 14th Miss Indian Nation. She was crowned at the United Tribes International Powwow this month.
