Three First Nations said to be close to treaties

Three First Nations in British Columbia are said to be close to signing treaties with the province and the federal government.

The B.C. Treaty Commission said two First Nations -- Tsawwassen Band and the Lheidli T'Enneh -- have completed negotiations. A third -- the Maa-nulth -- is reportedly close to an agreement.

Of all the provinces, B.C. never negotiated treaties with First Nations. Land, water, natural resource and other issues are in the air as a result.

Only one B.C. First Nations -- the Nisga'a -- has signed a treaty but it wasn't negotiated through the treaty commission.
