Joint hearing on Indian health care act postponed

The Senate Indian Affairs Committee has postponed its joint hearing on the Indian Health Care Improvement Act.

The hearing with the Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions was due to take place today. A new date has not been announced.

S.1057 would reauthorize the Indian Health Care Improvement Act, first passed in 1976. The expired in 2000 but efforts to come up with new amendments have been met with objections from the Bush administration.
