Alaska Native corporations a major force in state

Alaska Native corporations are the leading businesses in the state, according to Alaska Business Monthly.

Of the top 10 corporations last year, seven were Native corporations. That's a long way from the bankruptcies and near bankruptcies in recent years.

The largest business is Arctic Slope Regional Corp. With revenue of $1.6 billion and 1,506 employees, it is the seventh-largest employer in the state.

The second largest business is Chugach Alaska Corp. Chugach and other Native corporations have seen revenue increase due to more government contracting.
