Soboba Band worried about housing development

The Soboba Band of Luiseo Indians is meeting with a housing developer to work out concerns about a master-planned community being built on an ancient village, The Riverside Press-Enterprise reports.

The tribe is worried that KB Homes isn't following state law. The tribe says sacred sites and artifacts could be destroyed by the development of The Cove, a community of 498 homes, a park and an elementary school.

The tribe met with KB Homes and officials in San Jacinto, where the community is planned. The city's community development director said some artifacts have been found at the site.
