Ron Volesky, a member of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe, has dropped out of the South Dakota governor's race, citing a lack of money.

Volesky, 51, was seeking the Democratic nomination for governor. But with only $3,000 in funds compared to $1.4 million. for Republican incumbent Mike Rounds, he said it was impossible to continue.

Volesky, a lawyer and father of four, said he would consider running for office in the future. He sought the Democratic nomination for governor in 2002 and ran for attorney general against Republican Larry Long the same year. He lost both races and previously lost a shot at the U.S. Congress.
