Mashantucket Tribe donates to Habitat for Humanity

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation is donating $65,000 to Habitat for Humanity to build four homes for people in southeastern Connecticut.

The donation is the tribe's first to Habitat for Humanity. Secretary Charlene Jones said the tribe hopes to continue working with the organization to help people realize the dream of homeownership.

"Many of us tribal people came from the same kind of families that Habitat is reaching out to," Jones told The Norwich Bulletin.
