Zuni man sentenced for murder of stepfather


Jesse Shawn Wewa, a 24-year-old member of the Zuni Tribe of New Mexico, was sentenced to more than 10 years in prison for murdering his stepfather.

Wewa lives on the Warm Springs Reservation in Oregon. He said he stabbed Charles Lesarlley, 46, because he didn't like the way his stepfather was treating his mother. Wewa pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

According to KTVZ, Wewa's cousin, who also lives at Warm Springs, is awaiting trial for the murder of a 14-year-old girl on the reservation.
