Navajo vice president Dayish seeks higher office

Navajo Nation Vice President Frank Dayish Jr. is preparing to challenge his boss for the presidency of the largest tribe in the United States.

Dayish has named a campaign manager and has picked up the paperwork to start a run for president of the Navajo Nation. He plans to announce his candidacy on Monday in Shiprock, New Mexico.

President Joe Shirley Jr. is seeking re-election for a second term. But Dayish didn't know about the official announcement until being told by local news media.
