Tex Hall, the chairman of the Three Affiliated Tribes of North Dakota and the former president of the National Congress of American Indians, is being courted by Republicans and Democrats to run for statewide office, Dorreen Yellow Bird of The Grand Forks Herald reports.
In an interview, Hall said he hasn't decided whether to pursue state office and for which party.
"The Democrats are paying a visit to tribal headquarters. I spoke at the North Dakota Democratic Convention in Fargo, but I also have a lot of Republican friends who helped with pieces of legislation," he says.
For now, Hall is seeking re-election as chairman of his tribe. He is running for a third term.
