Cheyenne River Sioux man seeks state office


Steve Emery, a member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, is seeking the Democratic nomination for a seat in the South Dakota Senate.

Emery, an attorney who went to Harvard Law School, is running for state Senate District 28. The seat is currently held by a Republican.

The district includes the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation, the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation and three counties with a significant Indian population.
