Southern Ute Tribe loses a ruling on biker rally

A judge in Colorado rejected the Southern Ute Tribe's request to appoint a receiver for an upcoming rally that was supposed to take place on the reservation.

The tribe sued the Four Corners Rally in the Rockies after the organizer moved the event to another location. The tribe is seeking damages of at least $225,000 for alleged breach of contract.

But in the first of a series of expected rulings, the judge said he wouldn't appoint a receiver or divert payments from the upcoming rally to the tribe. The rally had been held on the reservation for more than a decade.
