Adopt-A-Native Elder program still going after 13 years

Founded in 1993, the Adopt-A-Native Elder program in Utah continues to help elders on the Navajo Nation.

Elders over the age of 70 receive boxes of food, clothing and over-the-counter medicine twice a year. This past April, nearly 1,500 boxes were delivered to Navajo communities in southern Utah and northern Arizona.

The program is also reaching out to a younger generation of Navajos, helping them with backpacks, school supplies and other items. A Girl Scout troop recently donated 150 school boxes to children and blankets to teen mothers.
