Mashantucket Tribe celebrates green corn feast

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut kicked off Schemitzun, the annual feast of green corn and dance, on Thursday.

The festival, held on the tribe's reservation, attracts thousands of dancers and dozens of drum groups. It features an arts and crafts fair, live music and cultural presentations.

The tribe also built a recreation of a traditional Pequot village. This is the second year for the village.

The powwow runs through Sunday.
