Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribe to hold election


The Fallon Paiute-Shoshone Tribe of Nevada is holding its general election on September 23 to choose some new leaders and consider two constitutional amendments.

The vice chair and treasurer positions, along with two council seats, are up for grabs.

Incumbent Len George is not seeking re-election as vice chair. Donna Cossette, a former chair; Rochanne Downs, a council member, and Dell Steve are vying for the post.

Incumbent treasurer Nevada Iversen is not seeking re-election. Rulan Stands and Len George will face each other.

The first amendment adds a section to the constitution dealing with the selling, manufacturing or distributing of drugs and controlled substances. The second amendment deals with water rights.
