Coeur d'Alene Tribe allows grass field burning

The Coeur d'Alene Tribe of Idaho will allow bluegrass field burning this summer despite health and environmental concerns.

Burning is illegal In Idaho. But the tribe, as a sovereign nation, makes its own laws on the issue.

In 1996, the tribe said it would phase out burning within 10 years. Chairman Chief Allan said alternatives are still being considered.
