Mille Lacs Band made $1K 'stimulus' payment
Adult members of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe found an extra $1,000 in their bank accounts thanks to a "stimulus" package from the Minnesota tribe.

The payment was a surprise, former chief executive Melanie Benjamin said. She questioned where the tribe got the money for the package.

Benjamin was removed from her post in October amid allegations of financial mismanagement. She has filed to run in a special election but the tribal assembly refused to certify her candidacy.
