The Northern Ute Tribe of Utah is in a "vulnerable" position after years of growth in the energy industry, a former financial adviser says.

The tribe fired John Jurrius and sued him for fraud. But some tribal members still support him and value his advice.

"Ya'll did great things," Jurrius told a group of tribal members who asked him to talk about the tribe's development plans, The Deseret News reported. "And it's like you quit. You quit on your own plan … you were doing well and you were winning."

Jurrius said the tribe should temporarily lower taxes to lure more development to the reservation.
