A man who was acquitted for the murder and rape of an Alaska Native woman has finally admitted he killed Della Brown in 2000.
After a highly sensational trial in 2003, Joshua Wade was cleared of all but one charge for Brown's brutal death. He served about three years for evidence tampering and was released from prison in December 2006.
Within months, Brown was charged with the disappearance and murder of another woman. He agreed to plead guilty to Mindy Schloss's death and will avoid to the death penalty as part of a deal with state and federal prosecutors.
Brown was 33 when she was murdered. Her case highlighted the high rates of sexual assault against Alaska Native women.
