Homeless shelter hosts growing number of Native youth
Alaska Native youth make up 40 percent of the population at Covenant House, Alaska's only shelter for homeless teens.

From 1998 to 2008, the number of Native youth at the shelter doubled. Most come from rural parts of the state and ended up on the streets of Anchorage for various reasons.

The shelter provides housing for youth ages 13 to 20.
