Senate Indian Affairs Committee to consider two bills at meeting

Senate Indian Affairs Committee
will hold a business meeting tomorrow to consider two bills.
The committee will consider
, the Native Hawaiian Government Reorganization Act. The bill extends the policy of self-determination to Native Hawaiians.
The committee also will consider
, a fix to the
U.S. Supreme Court
Carcieri v. Salazar
. The bill ensures that all tribes, regardless of the date of federal recognition, can benefit from the land-into-trust process.
Neither bill has come up for a hearing before the committee.
The business meeting takes place at 2:15pm in Room 628 of the Senate Dirksen Office Building. It will be followed by a hearing on the
