Mohawk man pleads guilty to being a felon in possession





A member of the St. Regis Mohawk Tribe of New York has pleaded guilty to being a possession of firearms.

Victor J. Lazore, 25, was convicted of a felony drug crime in New York state in 2005. As a result, he's barred from possessing firearms. under federal law.

Lazore was discovered with two rifles, a shotgun and shotgun shells. He was stopped on the reservation by tribal police officers but claimed he was using the weapons in Canada. He also said he was part of the tribe's national security force

Lazore is due to be sentenced August 26.
